How To Bleed Coolant System In 07 Torrent Youtube

Hello Friends,

Looking for guidance on coolant fill process for a 2007 Pontiac Torrent with the GM 3400V6

Maybe someone has additional tips or communication, so thanks in advance for reading.

Auto overheated with Air-conditioning Off/Engine hot, coolant needle drops to nada and chimes. Wife shut it off right away. Got it towed home.

From what I could tell, some coolant blew out the reservoir overflow tube. No other obvious leaks or harm.

The day after it came abode on the hook, I topped off the degas canteen and went for a picayune bulldoze. (It's a closed system with no rad cap, just the pressurized bucket). It said engine hot over again within nearly 10-fifteen mins (no chimes nevertheless) and when I got back the bottle was at the same level. (cold fill line)

I went after the thermostat first, hoping information technology was just stuck closed. Seemed possible. It was locked open ('fail-safe' manner), so apparently that was not the cause of the overheat.

Went later on the h2o pump next. It was a bit worn but non ruined. At that place was a bit of wet in the pulley but the weep hole was clear. I changed it anyway because they're cheap for the GM 3.4 and I already had information technology off.

Then I never really establish the crusade of the overheat. I effigy it must take been depression on fluid, because no way did 10.five quarts come up out. (I pulled the lower rad hose not wanting to suspension the petcock and it made a little mess. I caught virtually but can't say for sure how much I lost, no way was it close to ten quarts full though.) Maybe the rest all blew out the top of the bottle when information technology was overheating? No idea.

Anyway installed new thermostat and water pump. I did a pre-flush with the wp off by dumping water through the degas saucepan and out the lower hose and open water pump housing, likewise every bit dumping water through the rad via the upper hose and out the bottom one. Things seemed to flow just fine.

My problem now is I'yard trying to refill the arrangement with everything back together and I was only able to get four quarts in before the degas bottle started to fill up and I can't seem to get anymore in. I'm squeezing the upper and lower hoses... I've opened the bleeder near the water pump several times. We have run the auto and got it a piffling warm hoping it would suck in coolant from the bucket but it doesn't move. Including the full reservoir there'southward just five quarts in it at present. The lower hose gets hot, but I don't think there'south plenty fluid in the system to get the thermostat to even open. The upper hose isn't getting that hot while the temp gauge starts to rise. Later on running it for a flake, the level in the bucket actually came upwards a picayune.

Should the organization non be taking the coolant more easily, and could something be partially clogged? I know these closed GM 3.iv's take a lot of issues with trapped air pockets, particularly in the heater core, merely I was expecting to become more than four quarts in without an upshot. The system takes 10.four. Maybe this is related to the overheat condition that brought me here, just I'm new to in depth cooling arrangement troubleshooting. I've washed a flush and a t-stat before, just in an open system. Whatever advice on how to refill this thing or what's going on? Practice I need vacuum on the saucepan to get the air out/coolant in?

Thank you for whatsoever help.
